This unique “ear”chitecture is decorated each year with thousands of bushels of corns, grains and native grasses. The Corn Palace features a wonderful gift shop and a concessions area where you will find caramel corn, popcorn and popcorn balls. You will see the World’s Only Corn Palace illuminated with thousands of lights leaving a lasting memory for all that see this breathtaking sight.

Dakota Discovery Museum

Here you will discover a complex of several buildings exhibiting the life, culture and the arts of pioneers and Native Americans of this region from the 1600’s through the 1930’s. Visit the 1886 Beckwith home, an example of elaborate Italianate architecture, built for Corn Palace founder Louis Beckwith. Celebrate the culture of the Middle Border Native Americans by viewing a collection of work by Yanktonai Sioux artist and designer for the 1949-1971 Corn Palace panels, Oscar Howe. Enjoy rotating exhibits of work by regional artists.

Prehistoric Indian Village

Begin at the Prehistoric Indian Village archeological site where 1,000 years ago semi-nomadic farmers/hunters harvested the first corn in this area. Experience a prehistoric dwelling by walking through an accurate, full-scale reconstruction of an earth lodge. Then follow the brick walkway through the gazebos, flanked by gardens of native plants including corn.
